Robust syntactic recognition techniques for OCR

This paper demonstrates the applicability of syntactic pattern recognition techniques to optical character recognition (OCR) and document processing in general, although the results presented here regard only the levels from pixels to character recognition. A brief overview of grammars is given. The chain coding technique and the syntactic methods used are described.<
