A high fidelity ground to air imaging radar system

Fine resolution radar imagery of airborne vehicles is useful in the development and maintenance of low observable (LO) aircraft. Such imagery can also characterize the radar signature of non-LO aircraft to aid in noncooperative target identification and recognition (NCTIR). A high performance ground-based inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) has been developed to image airborne targets, including LO aircraft. A unique feature of the ground-to-air imaging radar (GAIR) system is the ability to collect total radar cross section (TRCS) measurement data simultaneously with ISAR image data. The GAIR is a fully calibrated system, fully transportable, and capable of remote operation using mobile generator power.<
