Characterization of BSCCO/Ag tapes and magnets

We report results on the critical current density J/sub c/(T,H) at various fields and temperatures of Bi-2223/Ag tapes and small coils. In field measurements on small coils were performed under ascending and descending fields to investigate hysteretic behavior. Strain dependence of J/sub c/ was obtained by bending heat treated tapes around mandrels of varying diameters. Microstructural results of these tapes by optical microscopy, SEM, EDS, WDS are also presented.<
