Connector history and future strategy 'round or flat' for reliability?

Looks at the historical connector ranges used in our older Jaguar vehicles XJ-S and Series 3. Designs were centred around relatively old technology and factors to consider now were not then relevant. An absence of low current circuits, analogue sensing and digital switching allowed the use of large simple connectors with robust plug and socket pins. These cars were generally harnessed using moulded rubber connector bodies. Of course the 6.3 mm blade and receptacle, along with 'bullet' type crimp terminals were still used for single way connectors.<
