Throughput optimization of reservation protocols for high speed networks

Throughput calculation of reservation protocols, normally, ignores the existence of guard time between packets from different users. It should be, however, taken into considerations when propagation delay becomes significant in some applications. In this paper, a Near Station Send First (NSSF) scheme is described. The transmission guard time overhead can be less than 1% of the channel capacity in our case of study.<
