Measurement of anisotropy in obliquely oriented media

The uniaxial anisotropy energy K/sub u/ and angle of the intrinsic easy axis to the perpendicular direction, alpha , which does not include the effect of the shape anisotropy of the film, of an obliquely oriented medium were analyzed, based on magnetic torque analysis method ( beta is the angle of the easy axis to the perpendicular direction, which includes the effect of the shape anisotropy of the film) to determine K/sub u/ and alpha in obliquely oriented media on the basis of a non-approximated theoretical calculation. It is pointed out that the beta +45 degrees torque analysis method is also applicable to media with an easy axis in the oblique direction.<
