SQUIDs and aerial applications

Describes some of the research which has been performed on SQUIDs and aerials and illustrate it with some of the work currently under way in Birmingham. This work is part of a much broader programme aimed at the preparation and understanding of bulk, thick and thin film and single crystal samples and of their application to a range of potential devices. An understanding of the fundamental physics is of considerable importance; for example, an understanding of flux flow in these materials may prove important in such diverse areas as high critical current wires and interconnects, high frequency device loss and low frequency SQUID noise.<
