HyTime and MHEG

A description is given of the history, technical orientation and status of the MHEG (Multimedia and Hypermedia Information Coding Experts Group) and HyTime projects. Their relationship to multimedia (e.g. MPEG) and document interchange (e.g. ODA and SGML) standards are also discussed. The relationship between the standards is explored, with emphasis on appropriate applications and situations where they can be used together in a complementary fashion.<
