Application of the Class B Audio Amplifier to A-C Operated Receivers

The demand for increased power output from a radio receiver has reached a point where it is no longer economical to increase the output of the present class A output systems. The class B audio output system is a somewhat radical departure from the present system, and for a given cost permits an output of two to three times the power output of the present class A amplifier. This paper discusses the special circuit requirements of an a-c receiver to use the new RCA-46 class B tube successfully in a class B audio output system.
