Influence of the interface/interphase on polarization phenomena in model composites

Thermally stimulated current (TSC) spectroscopy has been applied to the study of interface/interphase in model composites. Three DGEBA-DDA matrix samples have been analyzed: matrix, matrix+silane treated beads, and matrix+elastomer coated beads. Below room temperature, two polarization phenomena are observed in all samples. The relaxation mode associated with the dielectric manifestation of the glass transition of the elastomeric interlayer has also been observed. Above room temperature, the TSC spectra show the existence of a complex relaxation mode. Analysis of the relaxation times shows compensation phenomena with parameters characteristic of the interface/interphase.<
