A novel technique for compensating POL converters with variable output capacitance

Stringent transient response amplitudes in response to changes in load current are becoming difficult to meet in standard off-the-shelf modular converters without adding thousands of /spl mu/F of capacitance. These capacitors require extra PCB real estate, increase total BOM costs, slow response time, and cause unstable outputs. To address these problems, a user-customizable method of feedback control is presented and analyzed with experimental results shown.
