Bacteriorhodopsin and its genetic variants as media for dynamic holographic information processing

The authors demonstrated that holographic films produced from the bacteriorhodopsin-variant BR/sub D96N/ have advantageous properties compared to BR/sub WT/ films. The films have been successfully tested in a number of holographic applications. Examples from polarisation sensitive Fourier holography, real-time time-averaging interferometry and pattern recognition are presented.<
