R&D at Telebras-CPqD: the TROPICO system

A summary is presented of the R&D activities, and the TROPICO system, which is an integrated family of digital switching equipment, is highlighted. The R&D activities are divided into eight programs which are sets of related projects covering a specific telecommunication area. The electronic switching program, which comprises the TROPICO system and some smaller projects, is described.<
