Improving confidence in the phase unwrapping algorithm

The phase unwrapping algorithm currently used in homomorphic signal processing applications can fail to return the correct unwrapped phase in certain circumstances. A simple modification to the algorithm for deciding when to adapt step size can improve confidence in the result.
