Monitoring concepts and requirements in coastal wastes management

Those responsible and active in wastes management research, design, and operation are encouraged by the increasing public concern for the quality of the environment, particularly marine waters. The National Academy of Engineering, jointly with the National Academy of Sciences, recently completed an evaluation of the scientific and engineering requirements for research and investigation to enable further development of our ability to protect and enhance the quality of the marine environment.
