End-to-End Probability of Undetected Error in Computer Networks

The occurrence of undetected error during packet transmission in a computer network can potentially lead to faulty network operations. Presented here is a Markov analysis of the probability of undetected error on an end-to end basis. A practical rule-of-thumb is also derived.
