Land mobile satellites using the highly elliptic orbits-the UK T-SAT mobile payload

The authors look at the use of highly elliptic orbits for a European LMS service, which will give improved elevation coverage and reduced fade-margins and possibly allow economic services to be provided by the mid 1990's with conventional technology. The ability of such systems to also cover the polar regions have possible applications for land, maritime and aeronautical systems.<
