Demonstrating RF Exposure Compliance in the Body Using SAR Modelling Methods

Electromagnetic exposure legislation and guidance around the world presents action or reference levels, in terms of measured electric field values, and exposure limit values or basic restrictions, in terms of modelled specific absorption rate (SAR). The measured reference levels are set very conservatively, and if used as limits can often prevent the use of antenna arrays close to personnel or body-mounted antennas. This work shows that, by modelling the SAR and comparing against the SAR limits, compliance can be achieved.
