Mantle Cloak Desing of a Dielectric Cylinder for Scattering Cancellation

This paper presents the mantle cloak design steps of a dielectric cylinder to obtain scattering cancellation. The required surface impedance for scattering cancellation is calculated according to Mie theory and then unit cell parameters are determined. Mesh grid and vertical strip geometries are applied to the dielectric cylinder respectively as a Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) design of the unit cell. Dielectric cylinder with and without FSS coating is simulated, and bi-static radar cross section (RCS) results are obtained. The results for cloaked and uncloaked dielectric cylinders are compared to each other in terms of scattering suppression performance. Notable invisibility is achieved for the cloaked cylinders at the operating frequency.
