Lumped Element Circuit Model of Resonant Antennas Using Singularity Expansion Method

This paper presents a novel approach to construct lumped element circuit models of resonant antennas using singularity expansion method (SEM). Two types of resonant antennas (a wire dipole and a wire monopole) are analyzed. The impulse responses of both the antennas are inputted to a refined matrix pencil (MP) method first. The physical poles extracted through refined MP method are then utilized to develop closed form analytical transfer functions using SEM for both antennas. Afterwards, the developed transfer functions are utilized to establish lumped element circuit models for the dipole and monopole antennas using simple synthesis procedure. The constructed lumped element circuit models are then validated by comparing its frequency responses to the responses of the original analytical models. The comparison of both responses exhibited good agreement.
