Empirical Formulae to Predict the Resonant Frequencies of the t – Shaped Printed Antenna

This paper presents two empirical formulae to predict the resonant frequencies of a dual band t - shaped coaxial - fed antenna. The antenna design and simulating efforts were done via Advanced Design System (ADS) by Keysight Technologies. Ultimately, the dimension of this antenna is 52mm x 50mm, tested using FR4 and Rogers RO4350B. The dual band antenna has resonant frequencies at 2GHz at 4GHz as their reflection coefficients are less than -10dB upon simulation with the FR4 substrate. The potential application for this antenna would be wireless communications and weather forecasting. The formulae have considered multiple variables and have been verified through simulation and experiment to ensure that prediction using the empirical formulae has an error within 2.5%.
