The Standardization and Reproducibility of Dielectric Barrier Discharge Reactors

Non-equilibrium, atmospheric pressure microplasma research has increased exponentially over the course of the past decade. With this trend, there has become an ever-increasing number of dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma reactor designs

. DBD plasma devices can take many forms such as jets, parallel plate, parallel rod, and many other configurations. As such, it has become increasing difficult to adequately describe the exact plasma device used in a particular study and even more difficult to reproduce another group's work without having the exact build specifications. Additionally, because of the high tolerances required, producing such devices was reliant upon different machining techniques which can be very time consuming. This project focuses on the reproducibility and design of DBD reactors using fused deposition modeling and laser cutting manufacturing techniques.
