New Approach for Thyristors Switched Capacitors Design for Static VAR Compensator Systems

This paper provides new circuit approach of thyristors switched capacitors TSC design. This approach develops the existed topologies of TCS by increasing the capacitive reactive power levels with the same number of capacitive units. This topology is a step to enhance the static VAR compensators performance of controlling the capacitive reactive power with zero harmonic content. This paper describes the construction of the new TSC topology and its principle of operation. Required conditions for appropriate operation of the new TSC topology are developed and explained. The new TSC is a development in the SVC systems not only on the performance level but also in the economical level.
