Staff Skills and Knowledge – Training and Certification

Successful team performance is based on the staff possessing adequate skills and knowledge. Accordingly, skill and knowledge requirements are discussed with every team candidate. The organization's skill and knowledge requirements may differ from specific projects. Project‐specific requirements may be included in the project contract requirements. Most organizations set education and professional training requirements for each of the software development and maintenance positions. The planning of training, retraining, and updating activities refers to the program contents, the number of participants, and the form of training. The role of the software quality assurance (SQA) function is supportive regarding the skill and knowledge required from software development staff, especially related to quality assurance topics. The successful operation of development and maintenance processes is supported in most cases by position certification of the key positions involved in performing these processes.
