Autonomically Driven Cooperative Design

This chapter begins with an analysis of the rationale behind the introduction and the role of the visionary concept of autonomic computing for the needs of accounting for its rapid translation into and convergence with the domain of state‐of‐the‐art networked systems. It provides an extensive commentary on and insight into the entire design to allow a comprehensive view of the current status of and future advancements in the realm of autonomics. The chapter details the relevant conceptual and architectural changes that are indicated to allow for the introduction of the concept of autonomic intelligence evolved cooperative networking. The most recently observable progress in the field of autonomics tends to result from a shift of the previously so popular in‐house computing, based on business applications, more towards the use of ubiquitously mobile and interconnected consumer devices, thereby replacing the former business‐to‐business (B2B) model with one that is more business‐to‐customer (B2C) orientated.
