Emulation of the connectivity of backbone and management for the layer 3 service of INTERNET2: 2016 topology

The backbone of INTERNET 2 has been evolving since 1996 when it was founded. In 2008, a scalable design included three advanced layer services, which where updated in 2014 with 100 Gbps links. In 2016 INTERNET2 had its last update, so a detailed simulation and emulation were developed for connectivity and management for each backbone('s) node, specifically for the advanced layer 3 service. Results of simulation as a first approach, and emulation as a second approach are shown, discussed, and compared to real implementation.
