Acoustic emission testing for BiSrCaCuO tapes

The main aim of the present study was to investigate the acoustic emission from superconductors Bi
₂
Sr
₂
Ca
₂
Cu
₃
O
₁₀
tapes made in the PIT technology (powder in the tube). The results of the acoustic emission registration during the current flow with a fixed value are presented. Acoustic signals appeared near the critical temperature. In the experiment also measurements of the acoustic emission at the constant temperature (77.3 K) during increasing the current flow above the critical value were carried out. In this case, no significant acoustic pulses were observed. The study showed that the nature of the AE is clearly associated with the properties of superconducting tapes: the critical temperature and the width of the temperature transition, as well as of the value of the current flowing through the sample.
