Associated sensor for passive RFID tags powered by harmonic energy harvester

This paper proposes an energy harvesting system for passive Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags which operate in ultra high frequency band by utilizing the power carried by harmonics of the chip signal. The proposed system consists of the design and analysis of harmonic harvesting section which harvests the third harmonic power backscattered by the RFID chip. A three port matching network is designed to direct all the signal paths efficiently in the whole system. Finally, described an application example where the system can supply dc power to a commercial sensor using the harvested dc power of the system.
