Abstract:

Iris recognition is one of the most reliable biometric technologies for identity recognition and verification. Most iris recognition methods represent the iris texture using the output of band-pass filters, and compare irises by matching the filter outputs. In this paper we explore iris recognition based on two visible features, crypts and anti-crypts. The experiments demonstrate that crypts and anti-crypts are stable, consistent, and have good discriminatory ability over different eyes. The visible feature-based iris representation and matching are easily recognizable to human eyes and have the potential to be used in in the field of forensics.
