Dynamic stability analysis of an industrial power system

Power systems have grown in both size and complexity, and the dynamic characteristics of the system vary as well. Even a change in power system loading, generation scheduling, network-interconnection and/or type of power system protection may also give a completely different stability outcome for the same disturbance. Recently, an instance of poorly damped oscillations has been observed from computer simulation on an industrial power system. This paper describes the investigation of the problem by using both time domain and frequency domain analyses to determine the fundamental characteristics of the system. The major factor of the system oscillation and the possible solution(s) for the problem.<
