Maximum Power Point Tracking Using Differential Evolution Algorithm on the SEPIC Converter for Solar Panels Under Partially Shaded Conditions

Photovoltaic (PV) systems often encounter issues stemming from partial shading, which not only diminishes system output power but also compromises safety and operational efficiency. Employing Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) with utmost efficiency enables PV systems to consistently achieve peak power production. To address shading-induced challenges, a differential evolution algorithm is utilized within the Maximum Power Point (MPP) tracking algorithm, allowing for effective tracking of the global MPP even amidst partial shading scenarios. In this study, a Single-Ended Primary Inductor Converter (SEPIC) converter integrated with an MPPT system is employed to optimize power extraction from PV panels, particularly under conditions characterized by multiple peaks in both the $P-V$ and I-V curves. The proposed algorithm demonstrates the capability to track the global MPP within a timeframe of 0.8 seconds.
