Abstract:
Summary form only given, as follows. The main object of the paper is to present to the Pulse Power Community the results and experience obtained at the IPRE in the field of pulse power industrial applications. During the last twenty years research work at the IPRE was conducted in three main directions: creation of pulse power systems and components (high voltage pulse capacitors, switches, charging devices, power conditioning elements sufficient for application in the industrial environment; investigation of material and construction behavior under various modes of pulse loading; plasma and pulse power diagnostics, MHD simulation, high energy density hydrodynamics). On this base a wide field of applications including more than two hundred technologies was analyzed. Proper market surveys and technology evaluations led to selecting the most advanced ones such as the technologies of cast cleaning for knocking out the cores and remnants of molding sands from castings of any degree of complicity and mass ranging from 0.1 kg to 200 tons; for press fitting of tubes into tube sheets of heat exchange apparatus; for crushing rocks, concrete and reinforced concrete foundations; for well stimulation in the process of oil or water production; for molten metal pulsed processing intended for decreasing the metal structural, physical and chemical non-homogeneity; for utilization and recuperation of wastes in porcelain and glass industry. The technologies and equipment have been introduced at more than 1000 enterprises in Ukraine, Russia, Japan, Germany, Sweden, Spain, Hungary, Romania, India, Bulgaria and other countries. Characteristics and capabilities of the pulsed power technologies and equipment will be presented in the paper.
