Abstract:

This paper proposes a method for measuring human body movement similarity by considering human body motion as a set of 3-dimensional curves representing the changes of direction. This analysis method is used for obtaining similarity values of the body movement of various subjects. Firstly, the performing speed of movements are compared and adjusted. Next, two types of normalized methods, which are based on the Space Harmony Theory, normalize the human postures in motion data frames. Then, the direction sequences describing the motion paths are derived. After that, an improved method inspired by the dissimilarity measure of the 3D curves is used for measuring the similarity of human body movements.
