Abstract:
Different 3D display technologies have their own characteristics and are suitable for certain applications. A 3D display system designed for a classroom must be able to deliver high visual quality at a reasonable cost. Meanwhile, it has to be easily operated and maintained. Based on these criteria, this paper analyses the suitability of existing 3D technologies and proposes a cost effective passive Infitec 3D display system for secondary/primary schools. Different from the conventional Infitec approaches which use expensive high-end projectors, the proposed design employs two consumer projectors together with interference filters to provide high quality 3D viewing. Design criteria and considerations are provided for deciding the important display components such as screen, projector and image generator, etc.
