Abstract:
Depleting crude oil supplies and rising pollution are driving a trend toward electrification of conventional automobiles, which use batteries as alternative energy sources to move the vehicle. In addition to producing new electric vehicles, the fuel consumed and pollution emitted by conventional vehicles on the road must be decreased, necessitating the conversion of current conventional vehicles to electric vehicles. Our project involves converting a gasoline-fuelled IC engine bike to an electric bike by replacing the engine with a motor driven by a battery and controlled by a motor controller. The unnecessary components were also discarded. Because the majority of people in India own two-wheelers, we decided to retrofit one in order to make the transition to greener options for fuel more costeffective. We studied various driving scenarios in Indian terrain to determine the desired specifications for the electric bike. The speed and torque of the vehicle has been tested successfully with different throttle position. The Battery power consumption is also analysed. It has been found that the vehicle with retrofit kit provides superior performance and meets the goal of making two wheelers more environmentally friendly. Hence, we can conclude that despite having significant savings in running costs, the performance of the vehicle has not been hampered, but on the contrary, it has been improved, providing a smooth, silent and comfortable ride quality.
