I. Introduction

Drones have an increasing popularity in various fields of application due to its mobility. It can be as simple as delivering boxes [1] and pizzas [2] or can be very sophisticated military applications [3], [4]. The increase in the number of drone's leads to many problems. Some people started to use this system in wrong and unfavorable ways, such as breaking the privacy of other people, spying operations, subversive or terrorism and some other evil uses. One of such incidents was the drone striking at oil installations in Saudi Arabia and leading to high tensions in the Middle eastern region [5]. Such event has motivated this work to detect and prevent an intruder drone. The idea of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) detection and prevention can help in overcoming the downsides of this useful technology and be used for the betterment of humanity. The UAV detector works using different principles. In this paper, the focus was on the radio frequency (RF) based operation method, i.e., RF based detection. RF signal is used in the communication operation between the controller and the drone. The RF detector perceived the emitted RF signal from the controller [6] using a programmed Universal Software Radio Peripheral (USRP) receiver. After performing detection of an unwanted drone, the system prevented this drone from reaching the protected area, which was performed via RF based drone jamming subsystem. RF jamming subsystem introduced a very high power interference signal, which resulted in disconnecting the drone from its controller. The paper provides the steps of designing such an anti -drone system that can help in detecting and blocking unwanted drones in protected areas.
