Fluid-structure coupling characteristics of highly-skewed propellers in the wake of the submarine

Highly-skewed propeller (HSP) is widely used in submarine propulsion due to its excellent noise reduction performance. However, thinner blade and larger skew makes it vulnerable to respond to the hydrodynamic loading, which may even lead to structural damage. Therefore, it is advised to analyze the hydro-elastic performance of the HSP in the wake of the submarine accurately, which is beneficial to the propulsion of the submarine as well as the performance prediction of the propeller.
