Study on the power output characteristics of large-scale photovoltaic power plants

As the scale of photovoltaic applications and the capacity of grid-connected photovoltaic(PV)continue to arise, the random fluctuations of PV power generation will significantly affect the safe and reliable operation of power systems. The impact of power fluctuations on PV power generation, grid connection, and dispatching has been explored qualitatively in the majority of previous studies, but no quantitative analysis has been conducted. Since the qualitative analysis method cannot completely describe the detailed information of power fluctuations, distribution status,and occurrence probability, the reference significance of its assessment results is limited. To overcome the above problems, this paper considers the power output characteristics of individual PV plants and analyzes the seasonality and weather characteristics of PV power output. The volatility, correlation, and simultaneous rate among different PV plants are investigated using cluster characteristics of PV power output. The proposed analysis indexes offer ideas and methodologies for analyzing regional PV power generation, as well as a reference for PV power generation development plans.
