A Modified Dehazing Method for Single Infrared Image of Disc Suspension Porcelain Insulators

In this paper, a modified geometric averaging filter (MGAF) is presented for removing haze from single hazy infrared image of disc suspension porcelain insulators, which further contributes to improvement on image enhancement. The proposed MGAF algorithm is capable of overcoming zero forcing problem that occurs in conventional geometric averaging filter, revealing better results in regards to subjective evaluation as well as outperforming peer filtering techniques in terms of PSNR and SSIM indicators.
