Low Power Organic Phototransistor for Image Enhancement under Weak Illumination

A low power organic phototransistor (OPT) is proposed for the bio-inspired vision system to reduce consumption of significant power and hardware resources. With reduced trap density of states at the channel interface for steep subthreshold swing, the low voltage operated OPT can be fabricated by facile low temperature solution processes for flexible electronic systems. Based on its excellent light-sensitivity and light-tunable timedependent plasticity, this OPT is shown to be able to perform image enhancement under weak illumination for constructing the bio-inspired vision system.
