A study on the control of PDIV and the magnitude for partial discharge models

This paper deals with the control of discharge magnitude and PDIV (partial discharge inception voltage) for the artificial defects used in the distribution-grade gas-insulated ground switch. The floating discharge model was selected for the partial discharge defect in the switch. The PDIV for the designed defect was calculated using electric field analysis simulation and Paschen's law. The experiment was carried out for the same defect model, and the PDIV in the experiment showed good agreement with the calculated value. Through this study, the effective PDIV and discharge magnitude could be controlled as designed.
