Web Based Medical System for Remote Heart Rate Monitoring with Cloud Integration

In this paper it is described the design and realization of a remote heart rate monitoring system, based on wireless devices, capable to measure and wirelessly transmit patient's heart rate (HR) to a cloud based database. The proposed system is used for long-term continuous monitoring of the patient as a diagnostic procedure and consists of several commercially available hardware for HR acquisition and custom developed software for data transmission through widely used Android-based smartphones to cloud based database. The patient's heart rate is stored in cloud and analyzed by a custom developed web application running on the medical doctors' computers. The patient monitoring device consists of a commercially purchased smartwatch, a smartphone, a gateway located in the cloud, and a graphical interface. A medical alert is sent in the interface when the HR is outside of the normally range values.
