Abstract:
This paper proposes an active clamp boost converter to reduce the switching power loss of the DC-DC boost converter. The proposed active snubber consists of two capacitors, one inductor, one auxiliary switch, and one diode that allows all switches to zero voltage switching (ZVS), eliminates switching turn-on loss due to reverse recovery current occurring at the output diode, and lowers the voltage stress of the switches. The operation of the proposed circuit was explained and compared the power efficiency and power loss of switch devices with a conventional boost converter using LT-Spice® simulator software.
