A Mechatronics System Design to Current and Speed Control of DC Motors: an Experimental Setup

In this work a mechatronics approach to current and speed control of dc motors is presented. In this case, mechatronic system design deals with the integrated design of a dc motor and its embedded control system. First of all, the motor parameters are calculated through a series of small experiments since no enough data from the manufacturer is provided. In the control part, a current controller PI in combination with a speed controller PI is implemented with the objective of reducing the steady-state error. The physical system consists of a development board Arduino Uno connected to a current sensor, speed sensor and to an H-bridge. A power source is built in order to supply enough current and voltage to a Dayton motor model 4Z529.
