Researching and applying sliding control method for ball and beam system

The ball and beam system (also called a balancing ball on a beam) is often used as a standard model for education purposes because the system is quite closed to real control systems like horizontally stabilizing an airplane during landing and in turbulent airflow. Most of the methods for controlling a ball and beam system are based on the simplified model of the system. In this paper, the sliding control method will be used for both simplied and the so called full models of a ball and beam system to archieve the quality stable position and to reduce chattering phenomenon. The results will show also that the full model will give more accurate controlling results.
