Design of FOPID Controller for Discrete System Utilizing Reduced-order Modeling

The main focus of this research manuscript is to design a robust fractional order PID (FOPID) controller. Along with the conventional parameters, integral order and differential order are also determined for better and more effective control. The frequency domain specifications, gain cross-over frequency and phase margin are selected as performance criteria that are satisfied by the controller. The FOPID controller is designed for the reduced-order model. The simulation results depict that the FOPID controller is better than the PID controller for the discrete system. Also, the controller designed for the second-order model works efficiently for the original higher-order system as well.
