Visualization and Scoring Models : Trending Videos Discovery and Recommendation based on Information Entropy Method and Principal Component Analysis

Many studies about the YouTube company’s business model analysis are based on data grasped from the YouTube platform. However, few studies are related to the updated trending videos on the YouTube platform with respect to different countries or regions. This article is to analyze the different characteristics of YouTube trending videos in each country or region by studying the characteristics of YouTube trending videos in six representative countries or regions and then apply Information Entropy Method and Principal Component Analysis for the datasets and select the truly popular categories among the huge datasets. Our findings contribute to some existing YouTube reports and improve on the updating data, differences among countries, and numerical ways for analysis.
