Electric Field Computation and Insulation Structure Optimization for DC ±500kV Composite Tower

The new composite tower has the advantages of light weight, corrosion resistance and good electrical insulation, and its application range in transmission lines is gradually increasing. In this paper, aiming at the optimization of insulation structure in the design of DC ± 500kV composite towers, the secondary developed three-dimensional finite element analysis software is used to simulate and calculate the potential and electric field distribution of DC ± 500kV composite towers, control the surface field strength of the key positions of the composite towers, and propose a voltage grading ring configuration scheme of DC ± 500kV composite towers that meets the requirements of field strength control, which is helpful to improve the equipment level of domestic transmission lines, It is of great significance to expand the application range of new composite materials and ensure the safe and stable operation of transmission lines.
