Multi-versioned log-structured index

A new index for a system of multi-versioned objects is described, that is able to store its data on external memory storage. All write I/O operations are performed out-of-place, so the insertions are efficient. The number of object versions or points in time in the index does not affect the performance of key-range time-slice queries.
