Poster: Corrective Real-Time Feedback for Smartwatch Devices using Quaternion Manipulation

This poster presents the preliminary work of corrective real-time feedback for free-weight exercises. We position the proposed system as an app that can run on any smartwatch. The application’s primary focus is to alert the user when their movement deviates from established guidelines. This preliminary study explores the feasibility of manipulating wrist motion with unit-norm quaternions to identify improper form and associated challenges in detecting repetitions. We posit that this technology has the potential to provide injury-preventing feedback.
